This photo is of Cushing Island. It’s the first lived on island at the entrance to Portland Harbor. The summer cottages that are there today, were laid out by Frederick Law Olmstead. The outer ocean edge of the island has a military fort that is now lost among the trees. The west shore and the back side of the island are where families live today.
On entry to the harbor, green and red can buoys mark safe passage. As boaters, we trust their positioning absolutely.
Why We Love This Ring
This ring is precious and rare. It’s set with one pink and one green pear-shaped Maine tourmaline. I wish we had a hundred of these rings, but today, we have just three. Can we make more? Not likely. We are at the end of this style; we only have three left. We have used up all the colors of Maine tourmaline in this size and shape.
If you’re a sailor, be sure to get yours. This is a double symbol of two lives living together, and the pink and green tourmaline represent port and starboard channel markers.
