Everyone loves the Sun
The Egyptians revered the sun. I get it. The sun arrived every day. They worshipped the sun. The Nile overflowed its banks every spring, enriching the earth and allowing their fields to green up – yielding foods, and furnishing date palms with water to grow.
In my own way I have an arrangement with the Earth’s sun. It arrives a few minutes earlier every day until the summer solstice. I arise to go to the shore and watch the sky and the arrival of dawn. I’m watching the colors at the edge. I’m watching the waves and the warmth of light as it meets our good green Earth. The Egyptians knew the importance of the sun. I too understand enough of the importance of the sun’s arrival to understand what the Egyptians felt.
I particularly love this piece because it’s got a big golden sun gem, four green garnets for spring, and diamonds as sparkly light on the water.
